Product FAQ
Why Jus?
The FDA and health experts recommend eating between 9 and 13 servings of fruits and vegetables each day. If you are one of the precious few who successfully do so, keep up the good work. For the rest of us, life moves fast and we end up eating more cheeseburgers than vegetables. The Jus product gives you an abundant baseline of those essential phytonutrients, enzymes, antioxidants and other vital nutrients that are lacking in your daily food intake.
How does Jus improve health?
The human body is amazing. Given the proper tools and nutrition it can heal and mend itself from the damage caused by injuries, stress, the sun and the environment. Jus provides the human body with crucial natural phytochemicals and phytonutrients that activates the body's natural healing powers to restore itself to health on the cellular level.
What does O.R.A.C. stand for? How does a high orac score improve health?
Orac stands for oxygen radical absorbency capacity. Jus is a carefully formulated blend of the world's most powerful superfoods which, when combined together, have a synergistic stacking effect. "stacking" occurs in nutrition when a combination of natural phytonutrients provides an exponentially higher health effect on the body than each of the compounds would have individually. Simply put, each of the nutritive properties of the 23 fruits, herbs and berries amplify and boost the effect of the other. Just like a philharmonic orchestra combines to create an overwhelmingly bigger and more beautiful sound than a flute solo, the ingredients in Jus come together to provide you with an amazing source of health producing qualities. Phytonutrient pigments when consumed in combination provide layers of antioxidant protection that can be considered a "stacking effect" like layers of armor protecting our cells and DNA.
What is Total ORACFN testing?
Total ORACFN(Total Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity for Food and Nutrition) is the latest patent-pending test from Brunswick Labs that measures broad-spectrum antioxidant potential against not just one but FIVE primary free radicals (reactive species).
Reactive species, popularly called free radicals, come in many varieties and harm our bodies in different ways. Protection against one does not guarantee protection against the others. That’s why Jus provides balanced protection against all five radicals.
What are the five primary free radicals that are tested in the Total ORACFN ?
Peroxyl
The Peroxyl radical is the most commonly measured and the first free adical measured by an ORAC test. However, just because it was first, does not mean it is more important than the other primary radicals. Peroxyl ORAC is a representation of antioxidant capacity; it does not measure complete or comprehensive antioxidant capacity. The ability to quench peroxyl is a meaningful part of the total antioxidant picture, but it is just a part; measurement of comprehensive antioxidant capacity must include the other primary radicals as well.
Hydroxyl
Hydroxyl is highly reactive and cannot be eliminated by our body’s own antioxidant defenses. It can damage virtually all types of macromolecules, such as, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, lipids, and amino acids. In the skin, hydroxyl radicals are created by UV exposure. We need to ingest antioxidants that quench hydroxyl in order to protect against this harmful radical. Hydroxyl is measured by the HORAC test.
Peroxynitrite
Peroxynitrite is particularly harmful to proteins. It has been implicated in the development of various health issues including inflammation. In the skin, peroxynitrite contributes to the breakdown of vital proteins, such as collagen. It is measured by the NORAC test.
Superoxide Anion
Superoxide anion is a precursor of all other reactive oxygen species. Sometimes referred to as “the mother of free radicals”, it is highly toxic and contributes to lipid (fat) and DNA damage. Antioxidants that scavenge superoxide anion also help prevent the formation of radicals such as hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl. Superoxide anion has been linked to hypertension and cardiovascular damage. It is measured by the SORAC test.
Singlet Oxygen
In the skin, singlet oxygen is generated by UV. Inside our bodies it is linked to the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and poor cardiovascular health. Singlet oxygen is highly unstable and durable. Carotenoids are very effective at scavenging singlet oxygen. It is measured by the SOAC test.
Who analyzes and determines the Total ORACFN rating for Jus?
Jus' Total ORAC score was determined by the leading testing laboratory in its field, Brunswick Labs.
Is ORAC fluctuation possible?
Whenever you are working with natural fruits, there are natural fluctuations that occur in the fruit itself due to weather variances, different soil conditions and other variables. Jus does everything possible to ensure that the product stays consistent in terms of efficacy and flavor, however, some fluctuation will always occur due to the high content of natural ingredients.
What are free radicals?
Free radicals are molecules produced when your body breaks down food, or by environmental exposures like tobacco smoke, pollution and radiation. Free radicals can damage cells, and may play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases.
What are antioxidants? How are they good for you?
An antioxidant is a molecule capable of slowing or preventing the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent. Oxidation reactions can produce free radicals, which start chain reactions that damage cells. Antioxidants terminate these chain reactions by removing free radical intermediates, and inhibit other oxidation reactions by being oxidized themselves. Antioxidants are substances that protect your cells against the effects of free radicals. Fruits, herbs and berries contain powerful natural defenses in their pigments that protect the critical plant structures from oxidation. These same antioxidant pigments become phytonutrients when we consume them and provide our tissues with essential defenses from free radical damages. Many of these phytonutrient pigments have whole body benefits, but many have tissue specific affinities in the bodies. For example, blueberry pigments concentrate in the macula of the eye providing protection from the damaging effects of sunlight and free radical damage.
What are phytonutrients?
These are plant-based compounds that may confer health benefits beyond normal nutrition through their antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties or other mechanisms.
Can infants and/or babies drink Jus antioxidant?
The product is safe for people of all ages. The amount of Jus necessary for each person depends largely on size and lifestyle. Nevertheless, consult with your baby's physician before serving.
I'm currently taking medications. Can I drink Jus?
Jus International is unaware of any harmful interaction between the product and medications. However, it is important to be safe, so checking with your physician is always a good practice.
Can I drink too much Jus?
No instances have been reported of problems from consuming more than the recommended serving size. Many consumers increase their intake, as their health and lifestyle dictate, with no problems. However, just like any other good thing in life, moderation is the best policy.
Is Jus organic?
While Jus is not certified as organic, we make sure that our producers follow strict standards of quality and environmental responsibility. We and our laboratory both take steps to ensure there is little or no herbicide or pesticide usage by our producers.
Are there natural phytonutrients and enzymes in Jus antioxidant?
Yes. While nothing can be better than picking fruit right off the vine, we at Jus International strive to give you the very best alternative. Our microbial-targeted pasteurization process is designed to prevent spoilage of the drink while simultaneously preserving a high level of the natural enzymes and phytonutrients. The important thing to remember about natural enzymes is that they help to break down and cleanse the body of toxins and waste.
Why do we need fruit, berries, and herbs in our diet?
A balanced approach to nutrition is best. A June 4, 2007 report by Data Monitor states that the market is not looking for a single superfood. Phytonutrient pigments when consumed in combination provide layers of antioxidant protection that can be considered a "stacking effect" like layers of armor protecting our cells and DNA.
Are there any side effects to drinking Jus?
Jus is made of natural fruits and herbs. The only known side effect to Jus is the possibility of food allergies.
Only about 1.5 percent of adults and up to 6 percent of children younger than 3 years in the United States--about 4 million people--have a true food allergy, according to researchers who have examined the prevalence of food allergies (from information posted by the US Food and Drug Administration).
Jus contains none of the ingredients listed as the most likely suspects in food allergies, according to the USDA.
Can pregnant and/or nursing women drink Jus?
No contradictions have been found. However, we recommend to always consult your physician first.
Can I replace my current multi-vitamin with Jus?
Multi-vitamins, generally speaking, are made from synthetic, laboratory-based imitations of natural compounds. Jus is made from superfoods that are the source of countless natural phytonutrients. The actual vitamin and mineral content of Jus Antioxidant, while high, may fluctuate, because each crop has some variation. However, it's clear that the body absorbs naturally occurring vitamins and minerals much more effectively than those that are synthetically created
What vitamins, nutrients, and minerals are in Jus?

Is Jus approved by the FDA?
Because it is a dietary supplement, Jus is not classified as a food by the FDA and does not require its approval. The FDA does not offer opinions about or approval of dietary supplements.
What is the advantage of a liquid supplement as compared to pills?
Liquids don't have to dissolve like tabs and capsules. Also, tabs and capsules require manufacturing and processing that can destroy the health-producing properties of the fruits, berries and herbs, thereby reducing health benefits.
What is the difference between natural and synthetic nutritional supplements?
In short, it's the difference between something that's living and something that's not. Although a synthetic version may resemble some compounds found in natural foods, no test tube product can duplicate the number and structure of nutrients contained in natural food. Thousands of enzymes and phytonutrients, both known and unknown, contribute to nature's superfoods. Natural foods work together in a way that a man-made process can't possibly match.
How do natural foods help to replenish the body?
The natural enzymes and compounds necessary for healthy cells in the human body are also found in the cells of fruits, vegetables and herbs. A diet rich in a variety of natural superfoods helps to replenish the body by providing cells with replacements for the losses they incur over time.
